About

A viticulturist, award-winning winemaker, and published author with over 25 years of experience in the wine industry. Moulton has worked with wine talent such as Joel Peterson of Ravenswood Winery, Mike Benziger of Benziger Family Winery, and Jean-Luc Thunevin (Bordeaux's Bad Boy wine) Paula has appeared on the Today Show, CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, CRN, and other major media outlets as an author and wine industry leader. She holds a BA from U. C. Berkeley in Rhetoric, an AS in viticulture from Santa Rosa Junior College, and a Wine Management degree from Le Cordon Bleu, Paris, France.

From farming to winemaking to exploring the challenges of being an unknown in the California wine world, author and award-winning winemaker Paula Moulton has now ventured into the international world of wine.

“I am a farmer living in California,” Moulton says. “To most people the mention of ‘farmer’ conjures up pictures of a man dressed in dungarees with a piece of hay dangling from the side of his mouth as words like ‘darn,’ ‘dangit,’ and ‘little missus’ slip from his tongue. The truth is I do not fit this picture at all. Instead, I’m more likely to be seen as a gal raising money for a charitable cause and dancing around at the benefit in an evening gown and a pair of sexy stilettos –yet I owned acres of land that I cultivated with my own manicured hands –on top of that I am a business woman, a mother, a winemaker and an author.”

And yet this was not enough for Moulton.

“There was something missing from my knowledge of wine,” says Moulton, “I wanted to learn the old world style of wine and bring it back to the new world.”

“And so I recently took ten months out of my life, moved to Paris, and enrolled in a wine management program to learn anything and everything there is to know about the international world of wine: terroir, the growing practices of other countries, the other thousands of grape varieties that I didn’t know, and most of all, how to smell, swirl, and taste some of the finest wines of the world.”

Moulton passes her wine course earning the prestigious Cordon Bleu Wine Management degree with 20 other international students. She is back in the United States (the New World) and brings her newfound knowledge with the release of her second book. Her unprecedented story and select classes teach the complexities of food and wine pairing and the art of being an expert wine taster using proven Old World techniques.
